40,000 people screaming and waving white towels == Best Night Ever?

Phils in First

Last night was the single most exciting sporting event I’ve ever been to.

From the starting 3 and out by Kendrick, the game was just perfect.

Jimmy Rollins showed why he deserves the MVP award this year. Starting the Phillies off with his first pitch single, Jimmy backed up his pre-season boast that the Phillies are the Team to Beat in the east. This guy has taken this team, this city onto his shoulders and barreled his way through the NL East.

Smoltz looked very much unlike the man who has ruled the NL East for so long, but the Phils have had his number since 2005.

The crowd was just electric and screaming for almost the entire game. The Phils gave away white rally talls and when you have 40,000 people screaming and waving those towels, it’s a sight to be seen.

Scoreboard watching was fantastic, watching the Cardinals jumping out to a 3-0 lead and holding off the Mets to put the Phillies into a tie for first.

Pat the bat’s 30th this year! He’s been on a real tear and has silenced all those who typically lambaste him for his shitty play. I say way to go Pat. Keep it Up!

Ryan Howard surpassed the strikeout record.. but he also hit a 2 run HR. So it all equals out right? :)

The game was not without drama… Franceour hitting a 2 run blast at the exact moment the the Mets game went final and the crowd was going nuts…… Talk about Drama… but the 9th inning gave me a new found respect for Abraham Nunez… he can strike out all he wants if he continues to play Third Base like he did last night. Nunez gets my player of the game for saving Brett’s ass there in the 9th with two awesome grabs.

Brett of course struck out my favorite Braves player of the night… Kelly Johnson… who went 0-4 with a walk, 2 strikeouts (including the last one to end the game) and an error. Way to go Kelly!

I thank Clayton for the tickets to the game. Fucking Great Game. I’m still riding the high from it.

Phils need to hold on. A one game playoff in Philly on Monday would be amazing, but I’ll take the East right out.

Now for the longest weekend of my life.. This could be the best weekend of baseball I’ve ever seen. 4 teams.. fighting tooth and nail for a playoff berth… As a philly fan I always keep waiting for the other shoe to drop… waiting to be ripped back to reality, back to watching october baseball from my couch.. watching my friends teams make it to the postseason..

But I’ll be there.. hanging on every pitch… and hoping.. no, expecting to watch some October baseball in the city of Philadelphia…
