Pop Goes My Heart!
Happy Valentines Day T!
A little late yes, but I was exhausted getting home last night.
We went to see the new Hugh Grant movie “Music and Lyrics” with the Luggans last night.

I must say this might be one of Grant’s best movies since About a Boy. Written and directed by Marc Lawrence who worked with Grant on another fabulous movie, 2 Weeks Notice, this movie was thoroughly entertaining. From the opening sequence of the music video for the 80′s esque “Pop” band, the fictitious band Grant was the 2nd most famous member of in the movie, I was laughing my ass off. The video for “Pop Goes my Heart” hit’s just the right balance of catchy 80′s style music and campy tounge-in-cheek self deprecating humor that Grant is most famous for.
I was a bit worried about the movie at first, as there was a lot of music and singing, and was concerned I’d be distracted by Grant’s singing. But satisfyingly enough his voice was actually good and completely worked for the film.
Grant and co-star Drew Barrymore had legitimate chemistry on screen to keep me entertained and I really enjoyed the interplay between the two characters. It doesn’t hurt that they both are gorgeous and drew Barrymore wears a very revealing top! yay! Not to mention the tight pants and pelvic thrusting Hugh Grant employs throughout the movie.
The pop star whom Grant and Barrymore are writing the song for, Cora played by Haley Bennett was a great parody on all the trashy/trampy pop stars like Christana Aguilera and Britney Spears. Her songs were of the type of generic pop-music fare but her vocals were not horribly annoying.
I enjoyed the movie thoroughly and want to go back and see it again. The movie kept me laughing throughout and the singing and dancing was fantastic. Any movie that has Hugh Grant singing and dancing is an A+ movie in my book.
