Posting More I Swear…

The wife has been getting on me about not posting enough so I’m gonna start writing this post this morning, and just keep going throughout the day as I remember more stuff.

The weekend was pretty uneventful. I did spend most of saturday devoted to grilling. The morning I thought about grilling, the afternoon I read my grill book, planned some items, went to the grocery store, and read my grill book some more. I then mowed the lawn, watched the US tie Italy and read my grill book even more.

USA vs Italy.. WTF was that ref thinking. Three red cards entirely changes the game. Taking two players out for one team cripples that teams ability to do anything. Especially on simple slide tackles that are not that bad. Luckily Italy hit the ball in their own net, and the US was able to take a tie. Word is the Ref who called the three red cards was removed from the last World Cup for irregularlites. I wonder if he’ll ref again this year.

Grilling Cont. The grilling overall appears to have been a success. The Kluvers came over and Jason helped me out with the cooking. I had done most of the prep work before hand, but having so many things on the grill at once can be a bit overwhelming. The potatoes I tried cooking on the side burner, and that was a disaster. The side burner is not a Grill surface. I must remember that. The potatoes came out mostly burnt, so next time we know.

The chicken was not quite as juicy as last time, so that will need to be adjusted. It was still good, but meh. The zucchini and eggplant turned out ok. Zucchini seems to do better over high heat then low, medium or indirect. Putting it on the top rack is not the way to go. It gets too wrinkely up there. So high heat with just a touch of olive oil. Speaking of the olive oil, putting some on the grill prior to grilling helps tremendously, stuff didnt stick as bad. Except for the fish.. but the fish still turned out well. The skin came off right away so I moved to a piece of tin foil underneath. That was a++ as T said the fish turned out excellent. The eggplant, which this was the first time I’ve ever cooked, seemed to turn out alright. T was happy with it. And finally the asparagus. I was a little disapointed in how it came out. I tried the raft method outlined in the Grill Bible, and with cooking spray and marinated. It wasnt too bad, but I felt my previous attempts was more successful.

Overall a good grilling bout. I’m planning on trying grilled tofu this week sometime. There is a few different methods I want to try.

The phils were finally able to pull a win out over the weekend. Madsen went to 7-4 on howards 3 runs blast. droppign 6 tho, with 3 vs the metz will be a problem. With the yanks coming into town today we will have a rough couple of days. The big Unit and the Moose. :(

So onward for the day. wish me luck.
