Trogdor 3.0 != Alive.

Everything looked good with the new incarnation of trogdor. The new server was up and the os was installed. We were gonna move some stuff over today and do some stress testing on the new box. Logging in this morning was in for 5 minutes when the server bounced on it’s own.. when it came back up i got back in and saw the following in /var/log/messages:

Feb 24 07:36:28 mosmiva kernel: g_vfs_done():ad0s1f[WRITE(offset=192806912, length=16384)]error = 5 Feb 24 07:36:28 mosmiva kernel: ad0: TIMEOUT – WRITE_DMA retrying (0 retries left) LBA=3482863 Feb 24 07:36:28 mosmiva kernel: ad0: TIMEOUT – WRITE_DMA retrying (1 retry left) LBA=5728911 Feb 24 07:36:28 mosmiva kernel: ad0: FAILURE – WRITE_DMA timed out LBA=3482863

:(

Looks like the 15 gig Quantum Big Foot Drive i had pulled out of a box in my basement for the test install was failing on me. Very sad. Luckily Jon brought in a new seagate 200gb drive! So we started throwing that in there.

Yet once again problems arose.

For some reason the drive was only being identified as a 32 gig drive! Wtf.

We’re going to try flashing the bios this afternoon and see if we can get the drive to register as 200g. Trogdor 3.1 is on the horizon!

If that does not work.. Trogdor 3.5 as a P4 Mobo is the backup plan.

Pray for trogdor.
